Coneflower Chorus

By Jon Bidwell

A gathering of coneflowers tilts and turns in every direction, their pink petals sweeping back from bristling copper crowns like dancers caught mid-motion. Feathery seed heads of grass drift through the frame, softening the composition with pale, wheat-colored strokes. Some blooms hold sharp focus while others blur into color and light, giving the whole scene a sense of gentle sway, as if caught by a passing breeze on a late summer afternoon.
