Cornflower's Curl

By Jon Bidwell

A tangle of cornflowers curls skyward at the end of their bloom, wiry stems spiraling like calligraphy above a garden gone slightly feral. A bee lingers in one faded blue head while a magenta zinnia holds sharp focus below, and black-eyed susans blur into gold in the background. Late summer caught mid-transition, not the garden's tidiest moment, but its most honest one.
